In this guide, we’ll show you how to add a floating WhatsApp button using Click to Chat, a popular and free WordPress plugin. The setup takes just a few minutes and requires no coding.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
Access to your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
Your WhatsApp phone number is ready.
Step 1: Go to the Plugins Section
Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
From the left-hand menu, click Plugins.
Click Add Plugin at the top of the page.
Step 2: Install the Click to Chat Plugin
In the search bar, type WhatsApp.
Locate the plugin named Click to Chat.
Click Install Now.
Once installed, click Activate.
Step 3: Open Click to Chat Settings
In the WordPress Dashboard menu, find Click to Chat.
Click it to open the plugin’s settings page.
Step 4: Set Up Your WhatsApp Number
In the Phone Number field:
Select your country from the dropdown list.
Enter your WhatsApp number without spaces or special characters.
This number will be used for all chats initiated from your website.
Step 5: Choose a Button Style
Scroll to the Button Style or Appearance section.
Select one of the available floating WhatsApp button designs.
Preview the styles and choose the one that best fits your website’s look.
Step 6: Save Your Settings
Click Save Settings.

The floating WhatsApp icon will now appear on your website.
